The cousins have a blast together in the tub! It is a special treat for all! Die Cousins haben viel Spass zusammen in der Wanne und das ist mal was ganz besonderes!

Private Chef- Privat-koch

Last night I had the luxury of having "my private chef" cook for us on the grill and stove. We had a great dinner and a good time.Tobias was happy to have a man at the grill with whom he could share some guy-time and afterwards kick some soccer balls around. It was a nice evening for all of us I'd say!
Gestern abend hatte ich den Luxus " meinen privaten Koch" an den Grill und Herd zu stellen, der fuer uns alle gut kochte. Tobias war ganz happy das er mal wieder maennliche Unterstuetzung hatte und zusammen grillen und anschliessend ein paar Fussbaelle schiessen konnte.Es war ein netter Abend und wir alle hatten unseren Spass...und danke Herr H. fuers Mitmachen!

Empty nest- Ausgeflogen

Wir hatten in den letzten Wochen einen Hausgast bzw.eine ganze Famile hatte es sich bei uns am Haus eingerichtet. Ein Vogelpaaerchen flog wochenlang emsig umher den Nachwuchs in diesem Nest zu versorgen.Wegen ihnen liess ich in der Kueche die Fensterlamellen unten damit sie nicht erschreckt werden wenn wir uns drin bewegen.Nun sind sie alle fort und der Kleine ist ausgeflogen! During the last few weeks we had a whole family of birds live with us in that nest that they built next to the kitchen wall.They flew back and forth for weeks feeding their offspring.I kept the shades down so that they would not be disturbed to much by movement inside the kitchen.Now they are all gone, the nest is empty.

Our summer-nanny-Unsere Sommerhilfe!

Since 10 days I have much needed help at home and around the house.Josie has arrived from Berlin.She is a gem! She is a nice and mature young woman who takes care of many things for me, is fun and fits right in! I am glad she came! Seit 10 Tagen habe ich eine Hilfe, Josie aus Berlin.Sie nimmt mir einiges ab und sie ist eine nette junge Frau die genau bei uns reinpasst.Sie ist ein Goldstueckchen! Bin ich froh das sie da ist!

Treework- Baumarbeit

There were several trees that were dead and needed to be removed and cut down.But with no man I was not able to do anything about it until my visitors from Germany attacked them and took care of them! In no time at all the big logs were down and cut.Some were even split for the winter so that I can fire them up in the wood-burning stove when the time comes.The rest of the wood is waiting for a willing guy who is eager to split them for me! Any volunteers?? Mehrere Baeume im Garten waren tot und trocken und haetten abgesaegt werden muessen aber ohne Mann konnte ich dagegen nichts tun bis die maennlichen Besucher aus Deutschland das mal eben in die Hand nahmen.In Null-Komma-Nix waren die Staemme unten und zerschnitten und manche sogar noch zerhackt damit ich es im Winter warm habe.Der Rest des Holzes wartet nun auf einen Mann der es zerhackt.Freiwillige vor?!

Traktorfahrt-Ride on the tractor

The tractor-mower was a great ride for the kids around the property and lots of fun the other day.My brother-in-law also enjoyed the trip through the yard with them screaming and laughing of joy! What a ride!
Der Rasenmaeher war das perfekte Gefaehrt fuer die Kinder sich ueber eine Fahrt auf dem Grundstueck zu amuesieren.Mein Schwager hatte genauso viel Spass wie die Kinder selber,sie lachend und schreiend umherzufahren.Was eine Fahrt!!

Cousins-Cousine und Cousin

Tobias' Cousine und Cousin sind hier auf Besuch.Zum ersten Mal fuer die Kinder zusammen in USA.Sie spielen wie die Weltmeister und hecken staendig was Neues aus.Tobias lernt mehr Deutsch und die beiden anderen mehr Englisch.Aber die Verstaendigung ist kein Problem.
Tobias cousins are visiting from Germany.For the first time in USA together.They are playing constantly and are having a great time.They come up with new stuff all the time.Tobias German is improving and they are learning some English along the way as well.The communication is not a problem at all.

Carina-Horselover-Carina-Pferdeliebhaber

Carina hat sich in der letzten Zeit auf unserem Pferd Dee in verschiedenen Shows angemeldet und hat sogar mehrere Preise gewonnen.Sie hat Potential sich noch zu verbessern und hat viel Spass and er Sache.Leider ist Dee nicht mehr die Juengste und ihre Beine machen ihr zu schaffen sodass sie nicht mehr gut springen kann. Carina took our horse Dee to several shows lately and made some ribbons even.She has potential to advance and has lots of fun doing so.Dee is older now though and her legs are not too good so she can't be jumped too often anymore.

Waitresses- Bedienungen

Daniela und ich sind nun auch im Old Heidelberg als Bedienungen zu finden.Freitags sogar gemeinsam -zur Freude der Gaeste. Viele finden es lustig wenn sie merken es gibt Zwei von uns. Es macht Spass , ich kann mit den Gaesten plaudern und im Betrieb sehe ich was laeuft. Daniela and me can also be found waitressing in the Old Heidelberg now.Friday's we are working together - for the joy of the guests. Most people think it's funny when they notice we are actually two people not one.It's fun -I can chat with the guests and I also can see what is happening there.

Smart Bianca - Schlaue Bianca

If I may say I am proud of Bianca's accomplishments in high school. She works very hard to succeed and it showed.Yesterday she received an award in Mathematics and Science:" to a junior who demonstrated excellence in mathematics and science and who has expressed an interest in pursuing a career in engineering, science and technology." The award was presented by the Fairfield University and Sikorsky Aircraft Corp.Excellence in Mathematics and Science. Congrats Bianca! Volker , as engineer himself, would be proud of you as well!
Wenn ich mal als stolze Mutter sagen duerfte das ich froh bin ueber Bianca's sehr gute Leistungen in der High School.Gestern wurde ihr eine Urkunde ueberreicht im Feld Mathematik und Wissenschaften: " fuer eine Schuelerin die exzellente Leistungen in Mathematik und Wissenschaften nachwies und die Interesse ausdrueckt eine Karriere in Ingenierwissenschaften, Wissenschaften oder Technologie zu verfolgen." Der Preise wurde verliehen von der Fairfield Universitaet fuer Mathematik und Wissenschaften in Zusammenarbeit mit Sikorsky Flug-und Luftschutz in Mathematik und Wissenschaften. Herzlichen Glueckwunsch Bianca!
Volker, selber Ingenieur, wuerde auch stolz auf dich sein!

Mein Helfer -My helper

Tobias ist immer der erste der helfen will wenn es um's Kochen geht. Hier schneidet er Erdbeeren in Stuecke fuer den Nachtisch. Dabei erzaehlt er mir von A bis Z alles was ihm grade einfaellt. Und die Erdbeeren essen ist noch schoener natuerlich! Tobias is always the first to volunteer when cooking is involved.Here he is cutting strawberries in pieces for desert. All the while he is talking about A t Z and what is popping into his head. And eating the strawberries is best of all!

Anika in ancient Rome-Anika in Roemerzeiten

Heute hat Anika in der Schule ihr Projekt vortragen muessen...sie portraitierte ein roemisches Kind zum Thema " altes Rom" .Ich war heute ausnahmsweise mal daheim, denn das Haus muss auch mal geputzt werden ab und an, und fuhr in die Schule um bei ihrem Vortrag dabeizusein.Sie hat es gut gemacht! Anika had a project in school called " ancient rome" where she was to portray a roman child.Since I was home for a change, cleaning the house , I went to school in between and listened in while it was her turn to show off what she learned. She did well!

Tobias beim Fussballverein-Tobias plays soccer

Tobias joined the soccer league here in Easton and has a lot of fun kicking the balls.He is pretty good and I am glad he has something to look forward too.
Tobias ist nun im Fussball-verein der Kleinen hier in Easton.Es gefaellt ihm gut und er hat Spass die Baelle zu kicken.Er ist auch echt ganz gut und freut sich nun immer aufs Training.

My Restaurant & work- Mein Restaurant und Arbeit

In letzter Zeit bin ich mehr in unserem Lokal als zuhause. Es gibt immer Arbeit dort und obwohl es auch Spass macht und ich mich Volker naeher fuehle, ist der Tag oft gestresst und endet in Hetze wenn ich dann daheim bin, denn dort bleibt das meiste liegen waehrend ich fort bin. Viele Dinge spielen sich auch gedanklich ab, man muss Loesungen finden fuer Probleme dort und diskutieren daheim. Aber der Biergarten im Lokal ist schoen und ich verstehe warum Volker selber dort sein bester Gast war! Man sitzt dort gut und kann abschalten bei gutem Essen von unseren Chefs zubereitet! Lately I am more at work at our Restaurant than home. There is always work to be done and although I enjoy part of it and I feel closer to Volker there, the day often ends in stress and hectic when I come home, because the stuff that wasn't done there when I was gone is still mostly there for me to do at night. There are many things I have to think about as well, solving problems at home and at work and that is mentally draining. The beergarten is very nice though and I understand why Volker was his best own customer there. You can relax there in pleasant surroundings enjoying the food created by our chefs!
